Take a hint people. This is an rp meant for only soulmusician and me. Yeah. That's right people. Read it and weep. Not like we have a lot of people on this forum anyway. Ugh. When she leaves, I'm going to be sooo bored. Words can not describe how much I want to roleplay right now. CUE BACKSTORY!!!!-
------------------------------------------------------- Modern day society was in chaos. It started at the Macy's day parade(copyright). Monsters with horns and wings broke their way through the ballon floats. The usual happy atmosphere was broken with cries of horror. And from the monsters, cries of thurst. For blood. It's been twenty years since then. The human race has long since broken and become nearly extinct. The monsters now roam freely through the world, fighting each other, and killing every human they see. They frequent sites in the rural areas, where the majority of the remnants of the human populace cower in fear.
Nestled deep in one of a long forgotten city, lives the Front. Originally created by a fleeing couple, all they wanted to do was survive. Now, they are struggling their way through current day life, with a strong population of 143. They lie in hiding, slowly creating their own society, underground. Literally. -----------------------------------------------------------
ALLLLRIGHTY THEN
So, this is basically the apocolypse with demons and monsters and flying things and stuff. If you need anything explained, feel free to ask questions, but basically, you're a person of any age you want, that lives in the Front.
The Front is comprised of different Areas/forces. There's the defense force, which basically protects the people 24/7. The attack force, which helps fight off monsters from the Front's hideouts, and then the creation force, which help manufacture goods for the defense force, attack force, and everyone else.
The Creation force frequent the outside world a lot to get materials from monsters. They have people balanced in attack and defense, and usually are equipped with the prototype weapons
The Attack force is comprised of equally tough people, but overall are weak when it comes to defending. They are equipped with the strongest weapons.
The Defense force has the best defenders the Front has to offer, equipped with strong shields and poisons to hinder any opponents. When it comes to close combat, all they can do is do the Turtle Shell and hope the Attack Force comes.
The Commoners are people who aren't in any of the forces, and have chosen the quiet life of the Front. However, they know how to fend for themselves if a large attack were to ever come upon the Front. Mostly comprised of children too young to join the other forces. EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT The Creation force is split into two factions: the Collecting/Information faction and the Testing/Creating faction. The collectors go collect the things from monsters and write down what comes from who. The Testing/creating faction does all of the creating and combining.
Yeah.

" The combustion chambers are clear... The tank is full..."
A young woman with short red hair eased her fingers in and out of her prized possession. The cannon was large, bulky, and overall a clumsy creation, but it had enough power to blast away a large group of monsters. Seren, the young woman, always took care to go through each and every detail of her weapon. After all, the day always proved to be long and arduous, and she often never had the time to check up on it during work.
Taking note of the time, Seren hoisted her cannon onto her back and double checked all of her holsters were in place. If her cannon were to ever fall... it would be the end of her.
Seren quickly left her small workshop and exited her apartment building. The streets were bustling with vendors selling trinkets and charms that sparkled in the artificial light. The Front was always a bustling place in the morning. Children ran side by side, hurrying to their schools. Adults checked and double checked their weapons before heading off to their forces. And Commoners always lurked about, offering Force workers free things like home baked goods or trinkets of dazzling color.
With determination, Seren set off for the Defense Force in the northern part of the Front. It always urked her how the Attack Force and Defense force had to share one section of the Front, while the Creation Force got their own spacious area in the back of the town. But it was all for best, in the end.
Even so, the Attack Force always brought back bad memories. As she strided along the paved roads, Seren passed familiar areas from her childhood. A daycare center, a bakery, a toy store, and her favorite place of all, a junk shop. From there, she gathered all of the materials she needed to make her prized cannon.
After the short walk, Seren marveled at the Defense Force. Although it wasn't the first time she had been there, she was always left in awe at the sheer size at the building. The fact that the Front was blessed to have former architects was great luck. It's rounded corners, it's great height, and it's beautiful detail in every window sill... the architect obviously had a blast creating all of the buildings in the Front.
As Seren forced the heavy door open, she checked in for the day and headed to her post out on the barrier. She quickly skipped up the many flights of stairs and waved at the occasional familiar face. Seren had always worked there, side by side Attack Force workers and Defense Force workers. Twice a day, they would open the Barrier's tiny gates and watch as Creation forces went off to their jobs. The Barrier's workers were always the first to know if there were an attack.
At last at her destination, Seren jogged to her position and got comfortable. Quietly, the young woman curled one of her strands of hair around her fingers and scanned the horizon for any signs of impending danger. Occasionally, a flying monster would appear , disappear ,or cry out in it's hoarse squawk. But other than that, not much happened at the Barrier.
She began to anxiously bite at her hair and squinted her eyes around the Barrier. Years ago, she had summoned the courage to dye her hair it's bright red color to ensure that if anything bad happened, her bobbing head could be seen in the distance. But that was only on the rare occasion that she was sent with a Creation Force squad to the deeper recesses of the region. To brighter places with higher amounts of monsters, materials, and greenery.
The barren land before her was brown, lifeless, and desolate. The occasional wind would whistle through the dead branches of a long forgotten tree. It was a tough job, but on the bright side, Seren had the day job. For good reason. After all, she had a condition that one of the Front's doctors called, "Nyctalopia". She just called it Night Blindness.
Troublesome but, in the end, true.

Can you tell me a little bit more about how things run, special protocol, stuff like that? And what kinds of materials are found outside of the front if there's a junkshop? Is the land around the front barren as in absolutely nothing is there, or like the remnants of a town or something? Any nearby water sources? How do they decide which members of the attack and defense force go out of the front with the creation force? How many of each go? Would they ever send just one? Sorry about all the questions, I just want to get this straight before I start writing.

Okay, 1. Special Protocol: I have no idea what that means. 2. Materials outside the front are collected by the Creation Force people in the Collecting section. Every now and then, they find car parts and scrap metal, so they just take that stuff. The land is barren. like... nuclear explosion barren, with dead trees and all that jazz. To the east-ish of the Front is an old city and to the north is a huge forest. Water source is from an under ground artesian well. People are tested for which force they qualify in and are asked if they have a certain force they want to join. However, everyone who is currently in a force has had battle experience/trainning. As for the attack and defense forces with creation forces, they usually just do a random raffle. Like, Oh I saw this guy a couple of seconds ago, I'll just get him to go. Usually, they have two attack force members, two defense force members, and one creation member. However, larger groups tend to have 5 attack force, two defense force, and three creation. They never send a member out alone. There's the buddy system and/or group system. I was wondering when you were gonna ask the questions anyway

"Hey, Peter!" a voice called out. Peter turned around and scanned the crowd in front of the Attack Force building, his eyes eventually settling on a friend from the Attack Force, a Defense Force member, and someone from the Creation Force. "Hey, yourself!" he called back, walking up to them. "Want to join our group?" the Creation Force member asked. "I need to go out and look for some materials." Peter nodded and said, "Sure, but we should probably take someone else from the Defense Force, right? And I need to check in first." "I'll go find someone from the Defense Force," his friend said. "Okay, don't forget and go do something else, though," the Creation Force member said. "It's really important that I get these materials. -------------------------- BLAH That sucked. By the way, I'm hinting for you to join the group, since I have no idea what I'm doing.

Seren nudged at her sack of lunch and sighed. It was a slow day. there wasn't a single monster in sight, and the heat was almost unbearable.
" Hey, you're in the Defense Force, right?"
Seren blinked back the sleep from her eyes and turned towards the voice.
" Yes. You're from... the Attack Force?"
" You betch'a! So I've got a group rearing to go collect some materials, but... we're short one Defense. You in?"
Seren thought for a long time and finally said, " Let me inform my superiors. You can expect me to be in your group.
" All right, thanks!"
Seren watched the Attack Force member leave and quickly set off towards one of the higher-ups. After informing her that she would be leaving her post, Seren set off towards the gate and quickly caught up with the Attack Force member.
Happily, she nodded at her friend from the Defense Force and unhooked one off her holsters. She let her hand dance across the front of her cannon before letting it rest with a firm grip on one of her markings.
Most of the time, she did this at the beginning of any material run, just in case they were attacked by a monster. It would be too troublesome to carry it the entire time.

"So, what exactly are you looking for?" Peter asked the Creation Force member as they walked in a general north-east direction. "Metal," the girl replied curtly. "As much as I can carry." Peter sighed and slowed his pace until he was behind everyone else. When they got about one hundred meters away from the Front, he began scanning the horizon for any sign of monsters, keeping a hand on the hilt of his swords at all times. He liked it when he got to leave the front, but was always wary, as well. As he walked, his shoes kicked up red dust, scattering little particles into the air. It was dry out, but not hot. As they approched the ruins of a once large city, Peter grew even more alert. Beneath the piles of rubble or behind some half-crumbled wall could be a blood-thirsty monster waiting to take them by surprise. The Creation Force member led them all into the shade of the destroyed city and began searching around for whatever pieces of metal she needed. Peter usually liked to help look for stuff when going on these patrols, but sometimes his help just wasn't wanted. He pulled out his swords and looked around carefully in both the sky and on the ground, searching for any sign of possible danger.

Seren worriedly fingered at her cannon, and glanced at the sky more than necessarily. The ruins of the city showed the Front just how powerful some monsters were. And how quickly an area could be destroyed.
Carefully, Seren unhooked the rest of her holsters and eased her cannon into her arms. A young man from the Attack force was being just as cautious as she was. Opposite of her stood her acquaintance from the Defense Force, who also seemed wary of their surroundings. Behind the three was the man from the Attack Force and the girl from the Creation Force. Although they were both rummaging around the debris from a fallen building, they seemed tense and ready for action.
The air around all of them was still. Not a single wind picked up, and not a single flying monster and called in a while. Something was bothering Seren about the entire environment. She anxiously began to scan the area, but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Bright green eyes narrowed into thin slits at the pile of debris around the group. Soon, they were looking back to the sky, scanning as far as they could go. The sky always made her nervous. --------- out of character: my room smells like decomposing corn cobs.

The minutes passes by slowly as the girl from the Creation Force went from one pile of debris to the next. Peter was looking up, but as much at the sky than at the tall remnants of buildings surrounding them. Most of the tall structures were modern-or at least, they were-but others were old and had some of those gargoyles. Peter stared at them, making sure that there weren't an extras, that none of them were moving. "Okay," the Creation Force member called out suddenly. "I think I have enough." Peter looked at the sack she had filled with pieces of metal, ranging from screws to pipes to sheets. "Wow, you really found that much?" he asked. "How did-" He stopped suddenly as a blood thirsty cry rang out, loud and powerful.

Seren quickly ran in front of the group and began shooting at the land monster. Her cannon was set to an automatic firing mode and was slowly damaging the monster. Before long, the rest of the group fell into position and began to fight the monster themselves.
Seren braced herself for each recoil of her cannon and blinked back the harsh light and sound that came from it. Her spurts of energy from her cannon became faster as the monster slowly made its way towards the group, angrily clawing at the shots all the while.

Pretty soon, the monster got too close for just cannon fire to project them, so Peter and his friend launched themselves forward almost simultaniously. As Peter darted around, slicing at the monster's flesh and dodging its limbs at the same time, he wished he had chosen a different weapon of specialty. Something more modern, maybe. When he had first started out in the Attack Force, though, swords had seemed like a good choice at the time. The were light, easy to take care of and clean, and could probably make a monster bleed a lot more than most modern weapons-if he hit the right arteries. It was times like this, though-life threatening situations-when he wished that his younger self had just sucked it up and trained with guns, like almost everyone else. Oh, well. There's always a price to be payed when one makes decisions. Peter just hoped, as he attempted to injure the large monster as much as possible, that his price wouldn't someday be his life.

Seren felt her palms get sweaty as the monster got closer and closer. It had been a while since Seren had been out of the Front, let alone fighting a monster of such size. Two attack force members slashed at every part they could reach, and Seren winced at the amount of blood the monster had spilled. But the monster seemed to look at it's wounds as if it were nothing. Reluctantly, Seren tapped at several buttons on her cannon and yelled as loud as she could, " Move out of the way!!!"
She could feel her cannon shudder and heard the power charging itself within the many chambers of her cannon. Hopefully, the two would run out of the way fast enough.

With one final, desperate slash, Peter backed up quickly, trying to get as far away from the monster as he could.
