Once again, Pepperpaw thought about her dream. For some reason, she hadn't told anyone; it seemed like the sort of thing one shouldn't talk about without caution. <Extreme cold> she thought. <Extreme cold> It just didn't make any sense. Pepperpaw felt like running, longed for the feel of wind on her fur as she raced through the forest, but knew she was needed here, in the clan. The kits were playing again, as always. Pepperpaw watched as they tumbled around, and noticed their size. <Shouldn't they be apprentices, soon?> she wondered. <Oh, well. Crescent will assign them to mentors when he/she (by the way, is Crescent a boy or girl? I haven't been paying much attention...) thinks they're ready> She watched them for a little while longer, lifting up her paws up and down restlessly, then headed back into the medicine cat den.

Stormkit began to eagerly paw at Powderkit's nose. Powderkit, flank pressed to the ground, peaked her eyes open at Stormkit.
" What....."
Eyes glinting, tail twitching, Stormkit whispered into Powderkit's ear.
Jumping up in delight, Powderkit cried out, " Do I ever?" and eagerly clawed at the ground.
" Come on come oooonnnn~"
The two kits, now energized and focused, sprinted from the nursery towards the warrior den. Flinging her paws up, Powderkit eagerly clawed at the wall and began to slowly climb.
" Wait... for... me!!!"
Yowling, Stormkit leapt next to Powderkit and dug her claws into the weaving. As the two kits climbed from left to right, other clan members stopped what they were doing and flicked their ears in amusement.
" Gaaahhh!"
Twisting her back, Powderkit gracefully fell to the ground on all fours and triumphantly puffed out her chest. Being more cautious than her littermate, Stormkit slowly edged backwards and securely placed her feet onto the ground.
" Oh right! Stormkit, I just rememberd something I have to do, so you can go play with Icekit and Snowkit"
Meowing a goodbye, Stormkit made her way towards the nursery entrance as Powderkit made her way towards the medicine cat entrance. Stormkit could hear Powderkit meowing to Pepperpaw from the inside pathway, but decided not to eavesdrop. Spinning in a circle, Stormkit plopped next to Icekit and Snowkit. Both of their bodies were in a lax ball, pressed up against Leaftail. As Stormkit began to fall asleep, she could hear Powderkit's now distant meowing.
"How can I become a medicine cat?"

I noticed, I was just under the impression that by "How can I become a medicine cat?" Powderkit was responding to something someone else said, but I see now. Sorry for my idiocy.

Pepperpaw blinked, shocked, and looked down at the determined kit. Her eyes were sparkling, and she was looking up at her expectantly, waiting for an answer.
"Um, well, see..." Pepperpaw trailed off, not really knowing what to say. <I'm just an apprentice> "Maybe you should ask someone else. Mosspelt or Crescent, maybe?"

Stormkit blinked her eyes from their grogginness as she saw Powderkit bouncing excitedly near Crescent.
Stormkit didn't know how long she slept, but she knew she was going to keep sleeping. Shutting her eyes in the now empty nest, Stormkit curled into a tighter ball and purred at the warmth.
